The Case for Intelligent Design refuted, Evolution confirmed
Edwin — Thu, 07/24/2008 - 16:40
My cousin recently gave me a copy of The Case for a Creator by Lee Strobel at a family reunion. I am currently reading it. I am pretty well into the book and so far, everything in it is eloquently and devastatingly refuted by Ken Miller in the video lecture below.
Directive 51
Edwin — Sat, 05/31/2008 - 10:10
Have you heard of Directive 51? It hasn't gotten much mainstream press. I found out about it from a friend, and looked into it. Here is some results of my brief research.
A worst-case scenario of what Directive 51 could mean.
Some YouTube perspectives on Directive 51:
Agricultural water use
Edwin — Sat, 04/19/2008 - 12:53
What I didn't mention in my last blog is that Agriculture uses 81% of the water actually consumed in the U.S. See 2nd link in previous blog. This obviously means that agriculture dominates water usage and even a 10% savings could more than double the water available for domestic use.
What are some ways water can be conserved?
Where does the water go? Where is the water going?
Edwin — Sat, 04/19/2008 - 11:33
According to the USGS, FORTY EIGHT PERCENT of our water (39% of fresh water) withdrawals goes to thermoelectric (nuclear, coal, oil, natural gas) power plants. See http://pubs.usgs.gov/circ/2004/circ1268/htdocs/text-total.html and http://www.netl.doe.gov/technologies/coalpower/ewr/water/power-gen.html for details. According to the 1995 statistics (how about some more recent statistics, folks!), about 3% is actually consumed through evaporation, the rest is returned to the source. Domestic water use is about 6 percent of actual consumption. .
Synchronicity - A book review
Edwin — Tue, 04/15/2008 - 16:25
Synchronicity
I just finished a book entitled Synchronicity by F. David Peat. It explores Jungian psychology and philosophy, examines world views of different cultures, including a number of Eastern divination practices. He identifies synchronicity with meaning and explores some anecdotes of synchronicity. Synchronicity is a bringing together of events that have meaning without any mechanistic cause.
An Art Car Experience
Edwin — Mon, 03/17/2008 - 17:38
This past Saturday I was privileged to drive one of the Art Car Museum's art cars -- "Miss Vicky". It was fun honking at everyone as we drove the 3 or 4 miles to the Airport to display the cars at the Border to Border Airshow. Thanks, Hunter Mann, for letting me participate!

Today I ran across a post quoting this Rolling Stone article. All I can say is it is a must read for anyone concerned with the continuance of human civilization. Read it and take action!
